We're Rancho Vedado - 4000 acres of rim-rocked hills, mesquite flats, live oak and cedar. We are a working cattle ranch still operated by descendancs of Richard Franklin Tankersly, the first Anglo settler in the area. We have an area rich in history and heritage along the edge of the Balcones escarpment, deep in Irion county near the town of Mertzon. It is a truly unique location for hunting Texas Whitetail and Rio Grande Turkey. We provide the best of open-range and high-fence hunting.
Most of our clients know us for our 90% + success ratio on our Whitetail & Rio Grande Turkey hunts, but we now offer exotic hunts for non-native game. Add to your trophy room with the rare Scimitar Oryx, the elusive Axis Deer, Desert Mouflon Rams, the wiley Blackbuck Antelope, and the majestic Fallow Deer. With short notice we can arrange "Night Calling" hunts for predators, fox & bobcat. Included in our Whitetail package is a "Rattling Session." Go rattling with one of our experienced guides for the ultimate hunting thrill, then you'll understand why we say "Shoot or be trampled!" We have a brand new lodge with an Old West atmosphere, great view, and many amenities - billiards, big screen TV, horseshoes, saloon, and a .22 target range!
